    The 19.5’ Pogy Motorsailer is designed to have considerably more ability than the 17’.  She is longer, wider, and much higher sided, which will keep her occupants drier and increase the heeled stability range.  All this adds up to a larger interior and increased storage space.  The cost is that she’s 67% larger than her smaller sibling.  This means that if the 17’ requires $10,000 in materials, the 19.5’ will require $16,700.  This is a big jump and hard to grasp when you first look at a length only 22” longer.  But being wider and deeper adds volume and surface area rapidly and the increased budget and man hour requirements must be considered when approaching this type of project.
